Jackets
Living in Belgium means dealing with weather that doesn't do half-measures: north-westerly winds from October, drizzle year-round, damp winters that get into your bones. At BINDY, we've curated three men's jackets that actually answer those conditions — built for the Ostend dike as much as for the streets of Brussels.
The two families of BINDY jackets
Rather than an XL category with twenty references nobody ever wears, we picked three complementary pieces in two families:
🧥 The SHERPA family
For the cold snaps. Thick sherpa fleece (synthetic "sheepskin" effect), soft lining, perfect for transitional seasons and mild winter. Available in two versions:
- Sherpa jacket, long sleeves — the classic version, for properly cold days.
- Sherpa jacket, sleeveless — the vest to wear over a hoodie or crewneck, for transitional seasons or as a mid-layer.
💧 The WATERPROOF family
BINDY Waterproof jacket — the piece you grab as soon as the sky darkens. Technical membrane that cuts wind and rain, adjustable hood, ideal for wet seasons and choppy sea sessions.
Sherpa: cocoon-style warmth
Our sherpa fleece is designed to deliver maximum warmth for minimum weight:
- Thick sherpa on the outside, brushed on both sides for a plush feel
- Soft lining inside — no zip rubbing against skin
- Anti-jam metal zip — functional after three seasons
- Two side hand pockets sherpa-lined
- Composition: mostly recycled polyester, PETA Vegan partner (no animal wool)
The sherpa wears solo in mid-season, or as a mid-layer under a waterproof in winter. The sleeveless model is our best-seller among riders: warm enough for the torso, leaves arms free to drive, handle gear, or ride wearing it as a layer.
Waterproof: for Belgian rain
The BINDY Waterproof jacket is our answer to coastal weather. Not an over-engineered tactical parka — a clean cut, neutral colours, and a real technical membrane:
- Waterproof membrane that holds drizzle and showers
- Sealed seams in critical areas
- Adjustable hood with recycled metal drawcord
- Watertight zip and storm flap on front closure
- Regular cut — roomy enough to layer a hoodie or crewneck underneath
Suited for dike walks, rainy bike commutes, or just not arriving soaked when stepping out of the metro.
Who is it for?
BINDY jackets are for those who've understood that in Belgium, a good jacket genuinely changes the winter experience. Sherpa for cocoon-warmth fans, waterproof for those who go out rain or shine. Both together, layered, for proper cold.
Care
- Sherpa: wash at 30°C, delicate cycle, no tumble dryer (heat flattens the fibre), no fabric softener (kills the plushness).
- Waterproof: wash at 30°C, technical textiles programme. No fabric softener. Reactivate the DWR every 6 to 12 months with a dedicated spray.
- No direct ironing on prints or embroidery.
Frequently asked questions
Is the sherpa real wool?
No — it's a 100 % vegan (PETA-approved) synthetic fleece, mainly recycled polyester. The "sheepskin" effect comes from brushing, no animal components.
Is the waterproof warm enough for winter?
The waterproof on its own, no — it cuts rain and wind but doesn't insulate. Layer with a hoodie or the sleeveless sherpa underneath for warmth.
Made in Belgium?
Design, yes — 100 % Brussels. Manufacturing, mainly Portugal and Turkey, in certified workshops.
