The terry poncho is a cult object among surfers for decades — a Californian heritage taken up wherever there are waves. It's used to change discreetly on the beach, dry quickly, keep warmth after a cold session. EL PONCHO by BINDY Clothing takes that heritage with clean and durable execution.
Its terry fabric in organic cotton is highly absorbent, pleasant on the skin, and built to last. The 300 gsm weight gives the right balance between fast absorption and reasonable drying.
Fit & sizing
Unisex cut oversize by design — a poncho isn't a fitted garment, it's worn loose by definition. Use it to change underneath (the 2 side openings ease discreet on/off), to dry off after the water, or simply to stay warm on the beach between sessions.

Fabric & certifications
Terry fabric (looped towel fabric) is the same you'll find on premium towels and hotel bathrobes — the fabric that best absorbs water without becoming heavy. Organic cotton = no pesticides, skin respected even after a cold-water session.

Organic cotton is better for skin (no chemical residue) and for the planet (no pesticides). On a poncho touching still-wet skin after a session, it's a real plus: no chemical irritation post-cold-water. And GOTS certification also guarantees decent working conditions in production.
Yes — 300 gsm is the standard weight for a good poncho-towel. Dense enough to absorb quickly, light enough to dry reasonably (and not weigh a ton when wet). For comparison: a premium beach towel runs 400-500 gsm. The poncho is deliberately a bit lighter for practicality.
With normal use (session per week, regular wash), an organic cotton terry poncho easily lasts 8-10 years. Terry cotton is typically the fabric that ages best — it actually becomes softer with washes. Provided you avoid bleach.
